Hughes Recognized as a “Quadruple Winner” by Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE)
Hughes selected for 14th year as one of best places to work, and for new Diversity Award
Germantown, Md., May 6, 2013― Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, has been honored once again by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) as one of the Greater Washington, D.C. area’s best places to work, receiving the Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval, as well as the Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award. In addition, Hughes was one of 30 organizations recognized with the EcoLeadership Award for their commitment to environmental sustainability, and one of 18 for being a leading practitioner in diversity and inclusion. These awards will be presented to the 68 winning companies at the AWE Annual Awards Luncheon being held on May 15, 2013 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.
The Alliance has recognized the best places to work for the past fourteen years, honoring organizations that promote professional fulfillment and personal wellness—at work, at home, and in the community, as well as their commitment to environmental sustainability, and launched this year, the Diversity Champion Award, honoring organizations that have created and maintain a diverse and inclusive culture within their organizations.
“Hughes is honored to be recognized again this year as one of the area’s best places to work and to be one of only 14 organizations to receive all four awards,” said Pradman Kaul, president of Hughes. “Our employees are our most important asset, and we are committed to providing a positive and inclusive work environment with a range of wellness resources to ensure they achieve a healthy work-life balance.”
Michelle Pearre, vice president of Human Resources added, “Hughes is proud to be an AWE winner since 2000. We offer a variety of health and wellness programs which we believe helps our diverse workforce be more productive and creative; and recognition of our commitment to environmental sustainability reflects many new ‘green’ initiatives undertaken across the company.”
The 68 winning companies represent more than one million employees from organizations of all sizes and in all sectors―private, public, and nonprofit.
All award recipients undergo a rigorous assessment process led by an independent review panel of professors, PhD professions, and doctoral candidates in business, industrial and organizational psychology, and human resources.
