Hughes Europe DSL Services
Digital subscriber line (DSL) is a family of technologies that includes ADSL, ADSL2+, SDSL/SHDSL and VDSL. All variants Hughes Europe can deploy across the European region dependent on availability from local service providers and telco’s.
ADSL and ADSL2+ - Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line services offering cost effective business internet connectivity over existing or new landlines with speeds up to 24Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream available as part of a Hughes Managed Service
SDSL/SHDSL - Is a guaranteed, uncontended symmetric broadband service providing the same upload and download speeds, and none of the contention you get on all other broadband services (including fibre broadband), Speeds of up to 20Mbps per second are available as part of a Hughes Managed Service
VDSL (Very High Data Rate DSL) allows you to go up to 3x faster than ADSL services with speeds of up to 80Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream available as part of a Hughes Managed Service.
DSL services are offered across Europe, tailored to suit the individual need of our customers. To ensure the best possible service and contract terms for the customer, Hughes Europe will contract directly with local DSL suppliers or use a global communications provider to deploy the best possible service.
The speed and type of the access will vary depending on the local DSL availability options available, distance from exchange or street cabinet and quality and characteristics of the copper of fibre cabling. Customers can choose from the different service options available in each location to best match their business needs. Where only lower speed lines are available Hughes has solutions to be able to bond up to ten circuits together to provide a higher capacity link.
Private DSL as Layer 2 – Uses an end to end private segment, provided by the in country provider, aggregated as L2TP sessions on the private Hughes VRF from the BRAS network. Each site will authenticate via the Hughes Radius with a unique PPP credential to establish a L2TP tunnel which terminates on the Hughes central LNS. The traffic does not pass through the public Internet.
Public DSL as Layer 3 - Layer 3 DSL uses L2TP over IPSec to establish a connection over the public Internet. The CPE establishes a VPN connection to the Hughes central VPN concentrator.
Services are provided either by direct backbone connection with the provider as layer 2 (L2) with Hughes having its own private and dedicated VRF on the provider backbone or over a direct broadband connection to the Internet as a layer 3 (L3) using a secure IPSEC-VPN connection.
