3G Mobile Services

3G refers to the third generation of mobile phone standards as set by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). 3G mobile broadband offers greater flexibility and services by making more efficient use of mobile bandwidth than its predecessor 2G. Although faster 4G technology is becoming increasingly available across Europe, 3G remains the dominant mobile broadband technology.

3G is made possible by two complementary technologies: HSDPA and HSUPA (high speed download and upload packet access, respectively). These technologies enable mobile broadband users to access download speeds of up to 21Mbps and upload speeds of up to 1.76Mbps but these are not guaranteed as the 3G mobile service is a contended service. 3G has a typical real world download speed of 3Mbps with a theoretical limit of 7.2Mbps and typical upload speeds of 0.4Mbps with a theoretical limit of 2Mbps.  3G HSPA+ is an enhanced version of 3G which offers typical download speeds of 6Mbps and a theoretical maximum of 42Mbps, with upload speeds of around 3Mbps and a theoretical maximum of 22Mbps.

The Hughes 3G service can be used for a primary or backup connection alongside other connectivity like DSL.  We can also offer a rapid deployment service using 4G SIMs to quickly get you operational in the event of a network failure or as a temporary solution whilst you are waiting for a fixed line to be installed.
